Robert Murphy, Deputy Sheriff EOW by acts of violence by an assailant 1905

 

Shade William Coleman, Deputy Sheriff EOW by acts of violence by an assailant December 25, 1921

 

Squire Hagy, Deputy Sheriff  EOW by acts of violence by an assailant August 27, 1927

 

Hyson Baker, Constable                EOW while attempting to serve a warrant for interfering with an earlier arrest at a moonshine still July 9, 1930

 

Eulis Breeding, Deputy Sheriff EOW was while attempting to serve papers on a man near the Buchanan County - Dickenson County line September 9, 1964.

 

Arthur Owens, Jr., Deputy Sheriff EOW suffered a fatal heart attack moments after he and the sheriff engaged in a shootout with a suspect June 3, 1975.

 

Max B. Willard, Chief Oakwood Volunteer Fire Department, he was a member for 30 years and the Chief for 12, EOW battling a brush fire November 12, 2005.

 

William Ezra Stiltner, Deputy Sheriff EOW was after responding to assist other deputies who had been fired at by a sniper at the scene of a larceny in progress call March 13, 2011
